Campagnolo – along with Shimano and SRAM – are one of the more popular companies that manufacture road bike derailleurs. There are a number of Campagnolo derailleurs available at the moment including the Campagnolo Veloce 10spd derailleur and the Campagnolo Centaur derailleur. Campagnolo have a range of groupsets and each has its own derailleur.

Campagnolo Veloce derailleur
To buy a new Campagnolo Veloce front derailleur generally costs around $30 for the 10 speed model. A Campagnolo Veloce rear derailleur with 9 speeds costs considerably more – often up to around $90. The exact price of Campagnolo derailleurs depends on the year which the model was produced though and its specifications.
Some of the features of Campagnolo Veloce derailleurs include an “Infinite” finish to make sure it looks good with other components in the Veloce series, bushings for the rollers and an aluminum body. Generally, Campagnolo Veloce groupset components are meant for the entry level rider although they are still high quality bike parts.
Campagnolo Centaur derailleur
A Campagnolo Centaur front derailleur with 10 speeds will usually cost around $60. A Campagnolo Centaur rear derailleur with 10 speeds can cost in excess of $100 and hence certainly isn’t the cheapest derailleur on the market. If you’re looking for a cheap Campagnolo derailleur then the Centaur groupset may not be the best option to go for.
If, however, you have the budget then the Centaur derailleur is definitely worth taking a look at. The front derailleurs are made to provide snappy and light shifting between gears and have a weight of 91g. The rear derailleurs weight around 227g for the short cage model and 232g for the medium cage model and have a carbon parallelogram link. Both the front and back Campagnolo Centaur derailleurs are built with weight in mind and hence are suitable for extreme and casual riders who want a precise and reliable gear change.
If you don’t have the budget for Campagnolo derailleurs but still would like to get them then it may be worth looking at cheap and used Campagnolo derailleurs. Although pre-owned derailleurs may have scuff marks and not be in top condition they can often be found for much cheaper prices. As long as they function correctly – and you can trust the seller – then it’s always worth looking for cheaper options in order to save money.
